I have not taken a holiday in ages and wanted to take 3 weeks off in
August/September and do a European country. The choices right now

are
Italy,
Greece and Spain.

Any suggestions? I had planned on renting a car and driving around

rather
than jumping on an organized tour. Any recommendations?

Actually, I wanted to mention France too, but I figured I would have

drawn
fire from the likes of McKelvy!

I doubt if France has suffered any serious tourism drop because of the

fact
there government is wimpy on terrorism.

If I were taking a vacation abroad, my choices, for what it's worth,

would
be Ireland or Hong Kong.

why Hong Kong?

Because I enjoyed it immensely the 2 times I was there before.

One of the most alive cities you can imagine, great bargains on many

items,
especially clothing.

Beautiful geography. Great entertainment. Great food.
What's not to like?

The smell of sewege for starters.

Just like Paris?

I like the skyline but I didn't find the
landscape to be particularly interesting at all. I was not crazy about the

food
one bit.

Palette of the beholder Iguess.

I wonder if by alive you mean over-populated?

I mean it seemed like there was vitality.

It is the most densely
populated piece of real estate on earth.

Kinda like New Jersey.

The only bargains I found were on high
end film camaras and silk products.

Used to be great values on home electronics and many products from Europe.

I did find a lot of scam operations though.

Like New York City.

Now if I were asked to go back there again for work I would, but I would

not
consider a trip there on my own dime. I will say this for Hong Kong

though, it
was the only place I could make listening comparisons between a Rockport

Sirius
III, a Clear Audio Master Reference and a Forsell Air Reference all with

the
same cartridge. I did enjoy that and found it quite enlightening.

Good for you.
