Default Holiday advice

I have not taken a holiday in ages and wanted to take 3 weeks off in
August/September and do a European country. The choices right now are

Italy,
Greece and Spain.

Any suggestions? I had planned on renting a car and driving around rather
than jumping on an organized tour. Any recommendations?

Actually, I wanted to mention France too, but I figured I would have drawn
fire from the likes of McKelvy!

**Come down to Australia instead. Australia is huge and you have a diverse
range of places to choose from (impossible to see all in a few weeks). At
this time of year, you can swelter in North Queensland and Northern
Territory, or snow ski in New South Wales and Victoria. Australia is
friendly, very inexpensive, safe and easy to get around. Food is cheap and
high quality, tipping is not required, driving is easy (except in Sydney)
and we (mostly) all speak English. The flight is a bit of a bugger though.

If you are restricted to your choices, then I would go for Italy, first,
Spain, second and Greece a distant last.
