I think that I found at least part of the problem
with the triangle file.

When I download it from he
http://www.pcabx.com/technical/reference/
I get a file that is about 4.5 seconds in length.
(2.4 MB)

When I download it from he
http://64.41.69.21/technical/reference/
(this is the one you pointed me to, IIRC)
I get a file of about 1.8 seconds (310 KB)

Why is this?

You managed to find an obsolete page that hasn't been
updated since year 2000. You probably found it
using a search engine, and not by following specific
instructions from me.

I just checked goggle and found that every reference
to the pcabx triangle file that I've made on RAO in
the past year (including the past 3 weeks) has
always been to this specific file:

http://64.41.69.21/technical/referen...e-2_1644ds.wav

Note that this is a file that will download as
triangle-2_1644ds.wav, not triangle.wav

If the file you pointed me to is 1.8
seconds, I believe that you owe me an apology for
saying that the file is longer and I lied about it.

That never happened. Google searching of the RAO
archives says that I always pointed you at the
triangle-2 file. You somehow managed to go your own
way, and apparently never followed my specific
instructions.

OK, I think that I see what happened. When I clicked
on your link back when we first started discussing
this, I got an error message. So I did what I could
to get to the file. I loaded the address into Safari
and shortened it to 64.41.69.21/technical/reference,
because that's what I could get to work. That took me
to the page with the shorter triangle file.

So that issue seems to be solved. Nothing nefarious.

As they say, why presume malevolvence when simple
incompetence suffices.

What was incompetent about what I did?

Not use the provided URL, which worked for everybody
else.

It didn't work for me.

Properly typed URLs just work. If they didn't, the web would crash in a
heartbeat.

I just clicked on your link, Arny.

If I downloaded it in the usual
way, would could be "incompetent" about my actions?

If you get the proper results with minimal ado, that's competetence.
