The vinyl nuts and the tubies are just seeking the comfortable pastures of old.
Together with the subjectivism that always accompanied it.

Not necessarily, Graham.

Vinyl and/or tubes (though the 2 mostly go together) are usually more
of a DIY-thing, a hobby, a pastime.

Turntables don't necessarily have to be (though some knowledge to set
them up properly is needed), but tube amps are, in my opinion, not for
the non-technical people out there.

Unusually arrogant of me to say this, I know, but it is sadly my
experience that many people who buy into the hype, buy some Chinese
sh*t tube stuff, and end up with burnt out transformers, Chinese KT88
firecrackers and if they're lucky, their house will not burn down
entirely.
Or they buy overpriced boatanchors on E-bay, plug them in after years
of resting (and rusting), and are surprised if an electrolytic blows
through the roof, or it sets fire underneath.
In the best of cases, a fuse blows or their music is accompanied by a
loud hum, hiss of crackling noises.

Never mind, it keeps the techies out there busy ;-)
