Incidentally I have a Garrard 401 - the power switch needs fixing though- with
Ortofon RMG309 arm. Various cartridges ( mainly Shure and Stanton ) with home-built
pre-amp in the plinth directly below the arm base.

That was of course the predecessor of the 401. The 401 was certainly Garrard's finest but
it rumbled a bit and benefitted from a heavy plinth. Concrete was recommended.
