I think you'd have to consider on what basis it actually *might* be any better.
It's pretty unlikely that fundamental circuit design has moved on very much
although it might be a better implementation.

Another aspect to consider would be things like internal layout that can subtly
effect performance. This is one area where interesting advances can indeed be
made.

So, to conclude it *might* be ! But then again over time manufacturers also
cost-cut so it might even be worse.
