RAHE is now on hiatus until 9/10/2006.

David Bath - RAHE Co-moderator
Wonder what happened to the other moderator.
Or if David is the last of his kind
.
ScottW
David's been doing it by himself for over a year now. Asked for
volunteers
to apply, but no takers.
IMO, David has a thankless job which he does about as well as is humanly
possible. And despite the fact that we don't agree on many issues, I've
always found him pretty fair. So even if I get mad, I simply remember
what
a difficult job it is and let it go. Wish others could have done the
same....we'd have a more active group. But those who must *always* be
right
can't apparently abide ever having a post rejected.
=====================================
Harry, I sincerely respect YOUR fairness to Mr. Bath but not Mr.
Bath's to others whose views he disapproves of..
To be concrete.. Two years ago or thereabouts he announced a ban on
discussion about DBT/ABX. Following that rule he continued and
continues passing disputatious messages with thinly disguised synonyms
like:"But you did not use "nonbiased blind testing", or "bias-
controlled testing" etc. Disguises that wouldn't fool anyone past the
kindergarten. But he censored-rejected 9 messages of mine in a row.that
disputed that practice. Not for flames or vulgarity. (After 2 years in
the Army as a potato- peeling, sentry duty GI ifelt I heard enough
about ****ing and body parts to last me till the end of my life) I quit
RAHE for the second time, finally, and without regrets
Bath used to pass flames and name-calling directed at me by
individuals I prefer to forget but whose names and quotes I'll give on
request. But if I answered, woe to me, the censor's scissors would get
into action. 3 years ago after one violent flame that I was told I'll
be never allowed to answer adequately I quit RAHE for the first time.
Things were different before the other moderator Paul Raynaud from
Berkeley Univ. resigned.. If he felt that my answer was too much, like
the attacks on me, he'd contact me and ask me to revise. When I quit
RAHE the first time he told me he regretted that I felt I had to quit
and he welcomed me when I returned. The minute he left Bath got to
work to force me out.
I know that you do survive his anti-subjectivist censorship because in
your general niceness you find it easier to be not aggressively
controversial. I hope you continue. RAHE needs you. It is about to die
on the vine of attrition.
Best wishes Ludovic Mirabel
Ludovic -
I suspect your analysis is correct. It is a shame you and David apparently
got so sideways, because individually I find you both reasonable people.
There certainly was an attempt to "clean up" recrimination and
"promotionalism" on RAHE, and I too noted that some subtle (especially by
Pinkerton) flaunting of the spirit of the rules continued to get through.
But that was at a time when David was handling 40-50 posts a day in only one
short evening "sitting" and I believe him when he said he missed some of
them in the sheer process of reading and dealing with that many posts along
with his work and family duties. And as with any *law*, there are people
who push to the edge of the technical "letter" while violating the "spirit"
in a pretty cavalier fashion. Unfortunately, the courts usually enforce
only the "letter", since enforcing the "spirit" can lead to charges of
subjectivism and "activism".
