All the good moderators probably have moved to web-based forums now.
The moderating process there is so much simpler and easier, since one
moderates after the posts are made.
This gives opportunities to e.g. moderating messages partly, or to
have a discussion without interruption in a timeframe of minutes,
sometimes hours, instead of days.
Usenet is dying.
Having said that: being a moderator myself, it's a timeconsuming,
sometimes difficult job.You can never do well.
Some people always feel neglected, insulted or misunderstood.
On the other hand, there are occassions where it can be a very
satisfying job, such as when newbies begin to see the light about a
given subject and start posting new views or ideas.
I wouldn't miss it for the world :-)
