What would happen if you behaved this way with people, face-to-face?

He might be *nearly* as disliked as you are here.

Obviously you're so well-liked "midnight", that you're afraid to post under
you true name. Is your whole family rank cowards like you, or are you the
only one?

Sorry , didnt mean to be so rude as to ignore the respnses to my first
thread.

I am surprised at the reaction to Hk products. Whilst it doesnt
command mass market appeal overhere it does have its adherents. Why, I
wonder , should it be considered an inferior product to ,say , Denon?
Brittish products are all very well but the vast majority concentrate
on stereo products especially at the mid to lower end of the market
(Arcam being an exeption)I took the trouble to listen to an HK 5500
and cannot say I was offended. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to
why they are considered so bad overthere. As I dont live in your
country , Arny, you cannot expect me to know the answer , so no I
wasnt joking. I can also tell you that the HK 8500 ( top of the range
and which sells at £1800 or $3240)has also been very favourably
reviewed.
It seems to me more of a matter of fashion , I mean what is meant by
"cliche" in audio terms? Japanese products used to be roundly slated
overhere whilst Brittish products were always overhyped presumably in
order to protect their own market. I agree Sugden make some very fine
products as do Quad,CReek , Musical fidelity, Meridien ,Chord, Mission
and many others but ,as said, I dont think many of them go for
multichannel and the ones that do are hideously expensive! Therefore
Japanese products are filling a void and are generally well accepted
now - Sony , Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer etc etc.
I just realised that I hadnt mentioned that my interest is mainly in
multichannel amplification .Apologies!(I have a stereo power amp which
is called Leak stereo 20 and which has been modified by Glen Croft and
is linked to an Audio Innovation pre and I use them in different
room)As an alternative to the usual Japanese products I was attracted
to HK based on their favourable reviews. Their spec sheets dont bang
on about wattage ( in fact they are rated rather conservatively)
preffering instead to stress the importance of amperage figures.
Someone also told me to, look for considerable increases in wattage
from 8ohms down to 4ohms and then 2 . This, apparently, necessitates a
large transformer and , consequently, a heavy price tag. Most Brit
amps seem rather lightweight to me.
Lastly you seem keen to rubbish your country's products but let me
remind you that Mark Levinson make some of the finest products around.

Apologies for my dire spelling

I am, with you, senor. For the life of me I cannot understand why
these jokers are quite so disparaging about one of their country's
premier audio manufacturers- it seems that foreigners appreciate them
more. Us Brits know a good thing when we see it. You ,rightly
,mentioned Levinson products , but have you forgotten Citation ,Krell
,Conrad Johnson, Acoustic Research amongst other Yankie luminaries?
They are what we would call the " Dogs ********"- Great gear great
sound( although a tad expensive)
It seems that most in here would favour Japanese products but, of
course , we are rather more discerning n'est ce pas? Not for us all
those nasty vulgar black and silver boxes bedecked with superfluous
knobs and switches , and a cheap predictable sound to boot.No give me
HK in preference any day.
You say you posses a Leak stereo 20 valve power amp? Now you are
making me feel jealous. That was one of Harry Leaks premier designs
and last manufactured in the mid 1960's. Treasure that one senor.
Glen Croft ,as you are most likely aware , makes some very tasty valve
equipment- not sure whether our American brethren are familiar with
his products . All hard wired and made to order. Example of their
products a
Croft series 5 poower amp, Futterman inspired transformes less (OTL)
Dakshini power amp and , of course ,the well reviewed Vitale preamp.
Need I say more.
There is an american distributor and their website is :

So there we have it
Cheers, mate ,speak to you soon
