IIRC, in the U.S. it's OK to make a personal copy, i.e. copy to a disk
or tape for your car, etc. There are taxes added to the cost of blank
cassette and VHS tape to help cover the loss to the music and movie
companies; at least there were at one time.

To my knowledge, all of that is A-OK in the USA... but I guess the
music companies have to try to make as much illegal as possible as a
cover-up of failing music sales due to nothing of any quality or
longevity coming out regularly. Even the pretty faces are really trash.


While I agree with you about the lack of quality, stealing is stealing,
and I feel pretty strongly about the illegal copying issue.
