Tonite on 60 Minutes, Morley had a story about the "Left Behind"
series of crap novels and comic books. In the process of showing the
"evangelicals" as a bunch of puritanical, superstitious ninnies, the
producers showed a clip of Prezadent Bush declaring his love for
JEE-zus. The question posed to him was, "Who's your favorite
philosopher or sage?" Or something. Anyway, quick as a flash, out
popped "JEE-zus Christ!" Then somebody asked him why. The answer was
"He accepted me into his heart". Or something. Asked to expand on
that, all Dubya could muster was "I am saved!" Or something.

Anyway, this is the person who bears the honorary title "Leader of
the Free World". These are the darkest days in America since World
War II.

Though I am not much for religion, its
better than having Marx or Lenin as one's
most influential philosopher.

How revolting. Aren't you ashamed to admit that? Both of those men
were visionaries. They sought (and in Lenin's case, tried to
establish) a society free of exploitation and class strife.

Of course, with your level of obtuseness, you probably think the
Soviet Union or the "People's Democratic Republic" of China were
exactly what those two philosophers had in mind. Can you distinguish
between the idea of communism and the horribly flawed attempts to
establish communist states? Have you actually read any of Marx's
writings?

The fact that Dubya is religious hardly makes him the first U.S.
President to be so afflicted. But he is not just religious, he is
fanatically so; he is not just a failed scholar, he disdains the
very idea of education in favor of superstition and mindless
obeisance to a myth. I'm sure he has no idea how wealth is created
-- he probably believes "God" chooses which entrepreneurs will be
successful, just like "God" chose America to become the most rich
and powerful nation in our time. This is an undereducated,
unmotivated putz who has nothing more than gut feelings to guide him
in weighty decisions.
