I'm more upset about the stupid non-defeatable volume cap on the Euro
models.
I thought there was a firmware update that addressed this.
My old 10 gigger still works well--no noticeable loss of battery
performance. I use it regularly for four/five hours and the battery
indicator shows two of the three charge bars. Not sure whether it
would still run the specified ten hours, but there *are* replacement
batteries available.
At a mildly exorbitant price, and via a procedure that isn't for the
fumble-fingered. Plan B is send the box back to Apple for the $99
replacement, at the cost of all the files on your current iPod.
The original battery that came with my Vaio lasts
about ten minutes these days--and no warning before it caves in. Eek!
Hopefully its a tad more replicable than the battery on an iPod.
