300' is not long enough in my opinion, and, additionally it picks up a

of electrical noise. The only improvement is that it overcomes the
directional problem most tuners have with the little loop antenna they

It isn't hum
It is spike noise like lightning, motor starters, flourescent lamps, CRT's
vacuum cleaners, that kind of stuff.
