Default Tuning bass on Bose Wave Radio

I recently received the Bose Wave Radio as a gift. After hooking it
up, I noticed that the bass was way too loud, especially at low
volumes. After speaking with Bose technical support, I was told to
place a mat under the radio to help dampen the bass. This had little
or no effect. I have since been able to pry off the right side of the
slotted front grill (without breaking it) and stuffed the bass reflex
port with a port tuning foam insert I got with my B&W stereo speakers.
I'm sure any type of soft foam rubber would do the trick. This has
really had a great effect on the overall sound. It no longer sounds
like my neighbor has his subwoofer blasting next to my bed.
