1. Garlic shrimp and oyster at the neighborhood cajun place;

Care to share it? Not the Alligator Grill?

Gotta love the 704, but no!

I always get the Shrimp Brochette there... Dip it in that melted
butter...yum!

It's good after a Half-Price visit.

I will say there's a new location for my
favorite dish opening soon in East Austin.

Darn, aren't we secretive tonite!

Okay, I'll share. A picture of my fave:

I guess I've spent too much time down south and I'm out of it in Austin...

I've been to about two restaurants in San Antonio, and one was a little
red barn, so you're doing well by comparison.

least would
be anything with out of season plastic tomatoes.

2. Italian

2. Celebrity chefs I watch on tv? Batali, Flay.

3. My new favorite: Andiamo; over-rated: Castle Hill.

Ouch! I love the Castle Hill Cafe! I haven't been there in 8 months or
so...did something happen? It was a bargain to boot and they had great
wines
on the cheap. I did hate the no reservations policy. I still think of
their
habanero sauce at times...

No, the quality's as good as ever, the wines are still great, and you
could spend more for less quality elsewhere. My complaint is with the
cooking philosophy. I feel the individual dishes fight it out on the
plate, leading to an over-spiced total effect.

OK, it is obvious that we have philosophical differences! You just described
why I love that place. See, Stephen, that's why you order the bottle of
wine, to cleanse the palate between dishes and isolate the individual
flavors.

They did pour Caymus Conundrum for a wedding reception. Gotta like that.

That is also why I don't particularly care for the highly touted
Jeffrey's, it is plain boring despite the high quality of food. And
overpriced too.

That's what they used to say about Zoot. I get to that price range a
couple of times a year if I'm lucky, so I can imagine someone preferring
two trips to Castle Hill.

I think it's time for breakfast.
