DJ Turntables for home use
I recently was given a DJ turntable. It's a Numark TT1600, with a
Numark HS-1 headshell and a Numark GT (GrooveTool) cartridge. It
sounds pretty good, but I can't really give it a good test with the
equipment I have here. I am on break from school, where I have a
Marantz 2240, but the only reciever I have here is a low-end Kenwood
104AR.
I am trying to decide if I want to keep the Numark, or replace it with
a standard home-audio setup. Normally, this would be a no-brainer;
but my price range (sub-$100) has seemed to restrict me to very shoddy
tables in the home-audio market. None feel quite as solidly built as
the Numark. However, all of the home-audio turntables I have seen
have two things this table does not--a dust cover, and automatic
play/stop functions. In their place on this table, I have two things
I'll never use (for anything short of amusement purposes)--a second
motor switch, and a pitch control.
Should I keep this table, replace it with a new sub-$100 model, or see
if I have any luck in pawn shops finding a nice used table for less
than $100?
Thanks!
