To recommend a Linux operating system is not an easy job.
I use "Mandrake Linux 9.2" this software has many avantages :
1. Mandrake software is a French company
2. Mandrake software is a French company
3. Mandrake software is a French company
4. Mandrake software is a French company
To summarize : Mandrake software is a French company.

Seriously. IMHO in desorder :
- Linux can *immediatly* replace M$ workstations for wordprocessor,
worksheet, database and internet purposes.
- Linux cannot replace M$ for games purposes
- Linux is free and in permanent improvement
- You can contribute to Linux development efforts (translation, bugs
reports...)
- Linux need an adaptation period you cannot switch suddenly from M$ to
Linux without feeling frustration.
- In graphical mode (KDE, Gnome...) Linux isn't faster than M$ Windows
(r)(TM)(C)...
- Linux is the future.
- Linux allows you to become independent of worldwide Software
"ass-cleaner" companies based on M$ model.
