BOSE Acoustimas alternative?

It is very easy to see how a second rate brain arrives at your
conclusion.
Unprovoked attack noted.
So by your standards, any successful company that does the
best job of advertising and marketing their products is "universally
looked upon as second rate."?
Where did I say that? I think their products are second rate compared to
other products in the same price range.
Let's see: Does that mean Tide is a second-rate laundry detergent?
Is milk as advertised by the American Dairy Council a "second rate"
product?
Is Charmin a second-rate toilet tissue?
Is Red Lobster a second-rate chain of seafood restaurants? [Name a
better national sea food restaurant chain - You cannot]
You're just another drug store audiophool cowboy who detests Bose
because they are the largest and most successful marketer of speakers
and audio equipment in the world.
I don't detest them for being big and successful. I don't like the way they
sue people including hobby mags for talking about 6th order bandpass
designs. I think they use some of the cheapest component drivers on the
market and charge the highest possible price for them.
They spend more on advertising
because they MAKE MORE MONEY than any other company.
If you knew anything about marketing and advertising, which you do not,
you would know their advertising to sales ratio is actually lower than
most of their competitors, like Polk Audio, The Harman Group, and
Pioneer, just to drop a few names. Advertising to sales ratio is simply
a measure of what percentage of their overall sales revenue is
reinvested in advertising. Bose spends a lot because they sell a lot!
Bose sells a lot because they make quality, good sounding products that
people buy, precisely because they are quality, good sounding products.

You have your opinion and most people who consider themselves audiophiles
have a different one.
Hello,
I've been "borrowing" the Bose Acoustimas 6 for some time while sharing
an
apartment but I'm moving to my own place next week so I'm thinking about
getting a similar setup. While I don't really have any major complaints
about the BA6, I find it rather pricey.
Does anyone know of other products in that category but has a lower
price
tag? Will be using this for both my TV and stereo. I listen to Jazz &
Techno(yes, weird mix) quite a lot with other stuff thrown in
occassionally
(absolutely no country!). A little more solid, low bass would be nice.
Thank you very much.
aK.
Almost everybody making speakers makes some kid of small sub/sat speaker
system, NHT, Boston Acoustics, many others. Bose is pricey because they
spend a fortune on advertising, it's really not anything to do with the
quality of their products which are almost universally looked upon as
second
rate.
