I just noticed that my new speakers are Stereophile "Class A"

In my opinion, there's lots of overpriced junk on that list along some
really good stuff too.

A good number of the products are on there because one or more reviewers
thought they are great. Those reviewers might have tin ears. In my
opinion there's are at least two of those on the Stereophile reviewer
list; probably more. For one of them, I completely ignore his
proclamations on sound quality. For the other I take them with a huge
grain of salt.

Bottom line: the class listing only means something if the people who
recommended the product are people whose opinions you trust.

I'll agree with you, but only for components, such as amplifiers,
where there is not much difference in sound anyway, so a "good review"
isn't a bad way to choose brand X over brand Y. Speakers obviously
differ enough were only listening can be your guide.
