Default VD Vs. DVD under $500

You get what you pay for. The output quality is not up to par with nicer
players (cheap DACs and not the best decoder either), and it's not
proressive scan either. Most "shinco clones" (apex, etc.) have pretty
useless mp3 players (no long name support, let alone id3 tag support...).
Cheap build, lots of them die in a year or two, etc... Again, you get what
you pay for.

If you're just looking for any dvd player that works - on a budget, it might
be the best thing for you.

I just purchased an Apex DVD player that will play (in addition to
DVDs) CD, CD-R, CD-RW, mp3 CDs, wma CDs. In the video realm, it plays
DVD, DVD-R, DVD+R, JPEG photos, Kodak picture CDs. All this for $35 +
tax. Look in Sears for the Apex AD-1225.

Drawbacks? Sure. No front panel display.

I need to replace MY CD player.
I was wondering if the CD player would perform
better in music player than a DVD player in the $300 range?

Any opinions?
Aware of any such comparisons?

Thanks
