Would appreciate any opinions on the trade-offs of buying either 60 GB
IPOD Photo, new 40 GB HP IPOD, or used 3rd generation 40 GB IPOD. I
have 30 GB of music files BEFORE digitizing some old records and tapes,
so want at least 40 GB. Do want to be able to connect to some gadget to
make it convenient to play and keep charged in the car.
If you:
* Want "at least 40 GB"
* Already "have 30 GB of music files"
* Are planning to digitize "some old records and tapes"
* You intend to put all of the above onto an iPod
* You intend to keep all your music on an iPod all the time
* And you plan to continue to adding music to the iPod
Then it sounds to me like you need the biggest size hard drive with the
most storage capacity you can afford.
Therefore, if you can afford it, you should get the 60 gb iPod, because
it has the most storage space.
However, I also suggest that you also keep a backup copy of all your
iPod's contents on your PC. That will keep your music safe, in case you
lose your iPod or your iPod dies. Actually, you might want to back up
all your music on an extra hard drive, just to be really safe. Hard
drives aren't reliable enough for a permanent music collection, which
is why I plan to keep all my CDs forever.
What would I do if I were you? I don't want to carry all my music with
me and I prefer smaller portables, so I'd buy an iPod Mini and only put
the music on the iPod Mini that interests me at the time.
