A friend of mine is getting married in Ghent, Belgium at the end of the
month, so I thought I'd take a couple of weeks off and do some traveling.

I had thought on spending time in Vienna and Prague or perhaps Copenhagen
and Malmo.

Can anyone suggest any other places? I'm definitely one for cities, but
want to avoid the usual suspects of Rome, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin,
Amsterdam.

Prague and Budapest.
Budapest is more beautiful and interesting even than Prague.
It is the most beautiful city I have ever been to. And Hungarians are very
intelligent,
well educated and interesting. Almost all under 40 speak English.
be sure to visit the museum of the Communist era atrocities.
It also covers the Nazi era. IT is in the old secret prison on Andrassy.
Also, see an opera at the Opera House, and take a nightime river cruise.
