Anyway, it's with good reason direct drive tables are avoidium by
audiophile magazines. Any of the common ones can be bested by a
properly set up AR with only the most essential mods.
Direct drive tables are necessary for turntablists, but are to be
avoided for audiophile use.
I agree that, in general, belt drive is better. I've had in the past,
for example, the Oracle Delphi, and the VPI TNT. But, I no longer have
them, so I had an old Denon cleaned up, installed a sticky mat and new
Grado, and it sounds quite good for my present purposes.
