Is there a significant difference in the sound ?

There are two answers to this question.

1. There will be absolutely no measureable, detectable, real difference
in the sound. Any interconnect of remotely passable quality (including
the cheapies that come free with low-end equipment) should be capable
of passing a line-level signal without affecting it at all, and with
sufficient shielding for most purposes.
2. There will be as much difference as you want there to be. You can
convince yourself that you can hear a difference in anything, even if
that difference is entirely in your mind.

Save your money. Spend money on components rather than cables. If you like
the looks of fancy cables, consider making your own.

No! He needs to buy BOTH cables and wire them together is series. That
way he can enjoy the undoubted sonic benefits of both technologies.

But he needs to wait a couple of days while I go and buy some
Audioquest shares.
