DB-25s, 8 channels to a connector, would be my choice for this based
on your criteria. I don't like them for things that are regularly
being connected and disconnected, but you don't do that. They have
gold plated contacts, they're inexpensive, and they work fine for
balanced connections. In addition, there's a dominant wiring format
used by many manufacturers (as well as a couple of variations) so you
can buy off-the-shelf pre-made cables if you need something in a hurry
or want to save time or trouble with your wiring and can find
something in the length you need.
