OK, I asumed from the thread title that you were an electronics
hobbyist.....never mind.

May I suggest a tube amplifier then?
Plugging in EL34s is even simpler than changing light bulbs, as long
as you don't _screw_ them in ;-)


I recall a company called Musical Concepts that used to modify
equipment, and it looks like they're still in business. The problem
is, I have to wonder if the cost of repairing/modifying this 10 year
old amplifier would outweigh the benefits of buying something new,
with current technology......



That's a decision only you can make.
I'm a DIY-er, so I'm not scared of trying another type of output
device in an existing amp.
The guys at Musical Concepts have to charge their hours however, and I
fear a modification as suggested would indeed cost too much.
