I haven't used Audition so I'm just guessing here, but that sounds like
you have automatic zero-cross editing turned on. The software will find
a point closest to your "selected" point where the waveform is at
exactly zero. That eliminates clicks and pops at the edit point. Not
necessarily a bad thing in cases where to-the-millisecond timing of the
edit point is not critical. There are times when I wish Pro Tools had
that option. It would make cutting dialog a lot faster and easier.
