Looking to take the plunge on a Sennheiser EW 135 G2 E835 Cardioid HH
Wireless System.
Hope I'm not buying lame! I hunted around at the $500 price point, and
can't seem to see anything better.
Gack. They were dropped immediately from our list of options (in favor
of the AT in the same range) because of the ATROCIOUS handling noise.
We made the mistake of buying a 3-pack of E835 mics for the High School
groupa a few years ago, and they are OK if they *never* leave a mic
stand and are not subjected to any vibration at all in that
configuration, but for any other purpose whatsoever they are unacceptable.
It completely blows my mind that Sennheiser, who otherwise has *killer*
stuff (the two headsets gotten at the same time are theirs, as is the
older ew100 kit with a Countryman E6 that our Pastor uses), hasn't
noticed that the E835 SUCKS. Using the identical body and bringing with
it the same failures for a wireless mic where the whole point is to be
able to carry it around is just insane.
My suggestion is to look at AT's kit, which is working great for us, and
sounds great (for us at least, better than most any other mic we have
except the Audix OM-5's and the *really* old-school Telex handheld).
It's almost exactly the same price, and if you get two they rackmount
without an extra $35 frame.
