GINA24 w/ABIT AS8 motherboard not working
I have been using the Echo Audio Gina24 for sometime. I recently built
a computer to better handle my recording needs. Everything was working
fine until I threw the Gina24 in the motherboard. After installing the
driver, accessing the Echo mixer would freeze/lock-up the computer.
Then, every subsequent restart would freeze after the windows login! I
was hosed. I had to boot in safe mode [F8] at start up and disable the
Gina24 hardware. Once I did that, everything was back to normal. This
motherboard HATES the Gina (I can't blame it, there is a Gina out there
that I can't stand too).
The motherboard is an ABIT AS8 with INTEL 865PE/ICH5-R chipset. I
called support and they gave the the standard "Move to another PCI
slot", "disable hyper-threading", "clap your hands three times" and
nothing worked. Not to mention the Echo support team keeps no ticket
for outstanding requests and doesn't respond to support requests sent
through their web interface. I'm not too happy with them.
Echo support now says they will keep this issue on record (this means
the person I spoke with will write comments in his computer - the team
does not share a database) and will need to get an AS8 board in house
to test with. They cannot say when they will get this tested since
they have other priorities in testing their new products. Now I am
mad.
I will continue to try other things to make this work but am two inches
away from buying something new. Any suggestions?
If anyone has an ABIT AS8 and are using a Gina24 or other Echo product,
please let me know. Also, if you are experiencing the same issue, let
me know so I can forward on to the support team. Not that they will
care, but we can get a small force going in hopes of some action.
