Do you have a CD changer in it? If not, there are companies making
adapters which will plug into the factory harness and give you a line input.

Yes, there's a 5 or maybe 6 disk CD changer. I have used it
occasionally, but I don't bother playing CDs on short trips and a full
load isn't enough for a ten hour drive, and the drive home.

I remember when shopping for a car once, saw one, a Mitsubishi
Diamante I think, that had a line inputs jack on the front panel of
the radio. I had a rental Diamante a few years ago (after I saw the
one with the jack) and it didn't have one.

I might ask about installing a jack, but I suspect that the answer
will be no. Do you know someone with a Lexus who has this
modification? If it isn't a plug-in, it's going to be too difficult to
install. Then there's the issue of where to put the jack and how to
mount it. There's so little spare real estate on the dashboard that it
would be hard to find a good place. I looked at getting an add-on CD
changer for my last ES300, one of those that mounts in the trunk and
interfaces through the antenna lead. At the shop, tried the remote
controls for three different systems and couldn't find a place to put
it where it made any sense.

I sure miss my 1949 Plymouth, which had enough room under the
dashboard to build in a barbecue grill.

I thought you didn't like the music choices on satellite?

I didn't like what I heard on Sirius, and I suspect that I wouldn't
bother with XM either, though people tell me that it's better. This is
really a better deal for XM than it is for me. Think of all the people
who will be tempted to subscribe because they already have the
hardware. I doubt that I would.
