I was trying to locate this crazy speaker I saw in a magazine a few months
back. It was a home speaker, very very high end, the thing was as big as a
volkwagon and had a sound horn that looked like, and was the size of a
marching band tuba (color red I think) attached to it. I think it was
produced on the West Coast in the states but I may be wrong on that one
(might have been the dealership). The price tag was in the, get ready, $80k
to $100K area. I haven't been able to stumble upon since in the last day or
two so I thought someone here might be able to point it out for me. Thx.
If they're bright red, you're talking about the Avantgarde, from
Germany. Despite being prepared to be impressed, I wasn't, based
on high-end-room-CES demo's. The rooms there are way too small,
so pay my "review" no nevermind, if you're interested. Find a
dealer who can properly demo them.
FWIW, that kind of pocket change can get you into several other
exotic speakers. My personal fave is the Nearfield Acoustics, but
it's just a personal choice.
Good fortune,
