Default 6080 Heavy duty version and 1625 ??

Hi all,

I picked up a bunch of 6080 yesterday to complete an OTL experiment. All are
branded DUMONT. There is something weird about "some" of them. Some are like
a light
version, a bit smaller in height and very light. Others are taller and
weight almost a half
pound ! The plates are sorta encapsulated with a thick "weight" in lack of a
better description.

Is there such a thing as "commercial" versions and maybe an "industrial" one
?
The light version is dated 7050 the heavy one 76xx. Any enlightment on this
would
be appreciated.

I also picked up a bunch of 1625. Since I also have an 807 amp in the works,
I read the 1625 is an equivalent of the 807. Unfortunately, none of my tube
books offers specs and cross-reference. Is the 1625 a good audio tube to
play with ?
I can paint the plates black if it can help...[grin]

I expect to use 4 or 6 1625 in PPP monoblocks with their own regulated PSU.
Unless someone tells me those are crappy tubes...Or will you let me become
a guinea pig and review the results for you guys ? ;o)

Thanks,
Syl
