Yup. Both Long Term Disability Insurance and SSDI came thru, after a Long
Pause. They first try and scare you to death or suicide, saves them a bundle.
My wife had already been down that road, so I just blew off their blah blah.
Plus, it is really pretty easy to act cool when you are unconscious

I took programming from Captain Daniels and Admiral Grace Hooper in Washington
DC in the 60s, after Nam. She was totally cool:

"It is more efficient to just apologize if you get caught than to wait for

She found the first bug in a computer. It was a moth caught in a relay of a
Univac Mark II

PDP-8s were great, 7 instructions (plus NOP) and 12 bits. Core memory. I had
two machines, one with 4K and one monster with 12K. I toggled the bootstrap
loader in thru the front panel and then loaded via Teletype KSR-33. Punched
paper tape flew by the read head at 110.5 baud!

On a good day, I could load the 12K machine in under an hour

Other days I would sit at the machine trying to load it all day and go home
defeated

The past really sucked. That is why I left
