The Bose noise reduction headphones work very well - I own a pair and
use them for air travel to drown out the engine noise. They also have
reasonably good fidelity for listening to music. Being Bose, of
course, they are expensive, but the build quality is pretty good.
They recently released an upgrade to the original model that is
supposed to be more comfortable and have even better fidelity.
I believe that Sony makes a competitive product, although I'm not
familiar with them.

I'd like to hear opinions from people who have compared the Bose to other
noise cancelling headphones. I am very leery of Bose. I know that for
thier speaker line is ridiculously expensive for what you get. So I wonder
if the same is not true of their headphones. I have a long flight coming
up and I would like to get some of these headphones to make it more
bearable.
