I've been getting my kicks from Bang & Olufsen A8 in-ear
headphones.

http://www.bang-olufsen.com/sw711.asp

Shows that these aren't really IEMs, they are ear buds or
on-ear listening devices.

I didn't say they are in-ear monitors,

You're splitting hairs, Dormer. You said that they are in-ear
headphones.

Correct, because that's what they are.

Actually, they are on-ear headphones. They sit on the pinnae,
they don't enter the hearing canal.

You're not right.

The picture seems to speak for itself.

I do not appear to be able to ascertain what picture you are talking
about.. not being a mind reader and all that.

Google lied to me, right?

;-)

The drivers go under the Tragus, and when positioned correctly they
form an acoustic seal. The instructions clearly demonstrate this.

Dormer, I take it that you have no idea of how a true IEM works, eh?

Returning to your earlier mistake.. B&O state the A8 are "in-ear"
headphones : "Principle: Electro-dynamic speaker In-ear type (intra
concha earphone)".

Concha refers to the external ear, not the ear canal.

Ordinary headphones of the Sennheiser HD 580 work on a similar purpose and
arrangment.

Knowing what I know, I couldn't possibly make the claim that an ear
bud-like transducer has an acoustical seal with *anything*.

Since your knowledge is limited in this area I wouldn't expect you to
make any such claim.

Dormer, please let me know when you're through playing with words.
