I've been using a Presonus Eureka for about a month now. I A/Bd it with
an Avalon 737SP and what can I say....it's 1/4 the price and almost
just as good results...well at least to my ears.

This tends to agree with all the online and magazine reviews I have read.

The compressor is a
little weak,

This tends to go completely against all the online and magazine reviews I
have read.

but there are a lot of knobs to play with and you can hear
a difference when you mess with all of them. The EQ is very nice even
though the highs tend to distort the sound when you put them up too
much.

Wouldn't that happen with any EQ when you put them up "TOO MUCH" ??

I bet this unit will distort if you overdrive the input too.

The preamp is high quality and the over all unit is quite
exceptional.

I thought you said the compressor is weak?

I also like the classy look...VU meter..blue
lights....metalic design...very impressive.

Exactly what most people look for first in such a unit. Because when the
people hear the end result of a recording, what the mic processor looked
like in the studio is really going to effect the overall sound.

At around $499 for a brand
new one, you can't go wrong.

Especially since you get a $200 Analog to Digital output card for FREE if
you buy the unit before the end of the month. So it was really $700,
and you can get it for a few days yet for $500.

The last time I checked, just the RNP was
going for about the same price and then you have to buy the RNC for
compression.

What about the RNY and the RNX?
