You'll find that if you buy decent connectors that it costs you a lot
more than you think to build these. (Not that the Hosa connectors are
decent).

That is what I was thinking. It will cost you about that just for the 2
connectors and a bit of cable. Of course, if you assemble them
correctly, the quality will be way better than Hosa.
