Miles Davis is alleged to have replied to an interviewer who asked him,
"When does a synthesizer become a real instrument?" with, "As soon as a
composer writes a part for it".


And I wonder what he meant? Was he seeing synths just as cheap
imitators of real instruments? Or recognising that composers DO write
parts for them now?
