Rudy seemed to think a painting at the Brooklyn Museum was sacriligous,
cause it was made out of cowpoop, and portrayed the Madonna.
He was not particularly well reguarded before 9/11, which made him an
instant hero.

It would be more accurate I think to say that people
had mixed feeling about Guiliani. I certainly thought taking
away people's cars for first time DUI offenses was too
restrictive, when the Courts have been letting
guys go who have had 20 or 30 convictions.

But I met black guys in the Bronx who although they shared
similar feelings towards the Mayor, they also credited him with
finally cleaning up their neighborhoods and making them safe
places to raise a family.

In that regard he was a "Security" Politician even before 911. And
the Bronx has really changed a lot, it's become a real community.
