There could be. Contacts can become rectifiers. Noise can leak in
through connector shells that aren't connected to the cable shield.
Someone could unplug one.
But if that's what you have to do in order to get a 50 foot mic cable
run, you do it and you keep your ears open. "Degradation" is
measurable if you try hard enough. Listening will tell you if you have
a problem you need to fix.
