Hi folks,
I'm pretty much a novice user when it comes to audio, therefor i call
on the people that are beyond this stage, being you all here at
rec.audio.pro! I tried searching for the answer to my questions but
came up emptyhanded.
A client would like to have his programmes delivered to him not only
on DigiBeta but also on a Data-DVD in the form of 1 MPEG-1 file and 2
seperate stereo AIFF-files (as the DigiBeta has 4 channels of audio).
The AIFF-files are to be used for mastering and must be digitally
transfered to the computer in order to maintain maximum quality. I
looked on the web for cards that have AES/EBU inputs, and came up with
http://www.plus24.net/sekd/products/prodif88.asp , the prodif88 from
SekD.
Now for my question: I would like to know if there are better options
in hardware that the one above, AND, more importantly, what software
to use. I need to record the AIFF-files (2 x stereo) simultaneously
with the making of the MPEG-stream and preferably on 1 single
computer. The programmes wich need to be transferred have a length of
about 90 minutes.
I suppose there are many pieces of high-end software that can do this,
but I don't need all the advanced editing and effect features that I
DO have to pay for. All I need is a simple program that allows me to
record 2 synchronised stereo-channels at the same time, and save them
as AIFF (or WAV).
Thanks in advance!
Marc
