Default Why arent my friends subs very loud???

Quote:"make sure the subs are receiving all freq's and you dont have a high
pass". Sorry to barge in on this topic
but, I have 2 Boston Pro Series 8" subs powered by a Alpine 80watt per sub
2-channel amp. The deck is a Alpine 7892, so does this mean that I am not
supposed to
be using the HPF or the LPF in deck to route the lower frequencies to the
subs? I have the filters in the deck set at HPF=120 and the LPF=120 also.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Assuming theres nothing defective with any of the components...
Make sure the 2 10's are in phase with each other.
Make sure you have wired the voice coils for an optimal impedence load for
that amp.
Make sure the enclosure has adequate air space, and no air leaks. (very
important)
make sure the subs are receiving all freq's and you dont have a high pass
filter engaged on the amp or head unit.
make sure the rca cables are delivering the signal to both amp channels.
make sure the amp is receiving adequate voltage from the electrical

system.
Double check all speaker, power and ground wires to ensure solid
conductivity.

IMHO the clarion APX amps are very well made... from the same build house

as
Arc audio.

Hope this helps...

Yo, my friend has a 87 monte carlo. Kenwood deck, 2 10" JL W3 subs,
running off of a clarion 300 watt amp ( i believe it is 300 watts
rms). Subs are in a sealed box (not MDF, Box came from a store....so
probbly partical board)

They subs are good...but they dont sound great.....not much sq at all.
Dont pound much.

His brother has a **** sony amp... 10 dollar subs.... and it pounds
WAY WAY louder.

my question is... did i wire his subs wrong?

They are DVC ... i had never delt wit hDVC prior to that. Looked in
the manual... it showed differrent hook ups.... so i picked the one
that i think best matched his system. Basically, on the sub, you
got 4 terminals....i used all 4 terminals on both subs. Is that what
i was supposed to do? Or is there a way to hook it up for it to be
alot louder????

i thought those W3's would be WAY WAY WAY better then the 10 dollar
subs.
