1. The Kroobitch forbade you to go.

2. You have "family obligations" that require your presence in Michigan
during the time in question. (Note: If you use this excuse, you really
should have a few extra counseling sessions with Reverend Butcher.)

3. Stereophile is sinful, and it would defile you and Nousiane for you to
be in the same room with Lord Atkinson.

4. Your parole officer refused to give you permission to travel.

5. Your credit card was canceled.

6. You're afraid to fly because a terrorist might blow up the airliner.

7. An in-person debate would be a waste of time because you've already
proovedT on Usenet that you are a magnificent scieentissct. MUCh!

8. You only have debates in churches, and the proposed venue is not a
church.

9. You have scheduled a "trainee" session ;-) for that weekend, and if you
cancel, he'll never let you "train" ;-) him again.

10. You already proved your point by getting JA to invite you, so an
actual
debate would be as pointless as putting lipstick on a pig. Not that you're
afraid to stand up and say any of these things in public, of course. ;-)
