In article ,
says...
i just got a 'Power Acoustik' car radio & cassette player.
i know where the speaker wires are, and the power one i'll put to my
cigarette ligher (as it gets turned on/off by the keys), and the
back-up i'll put to a wire that comes directly off the + terminal of
battery.
but where do these ones go, and what do they do?
1. tel mute (blue)
If your car has a phone system built in and you want your music to
mute whenever you get a call, you would wire up your phone to this
wire.
2. auto-ant (br) (auto antenna presumably, but i don't have one)
If you have an electric antenna, you connect it to this wire. That way
when you turn on the radio, the antenna goes up. When you turn off the
radio, the antenna goes down.
3. dimmer (YW)
This allows your dashboard dimmer to also dim the lights on the radio.
You would connect this to one of the other lights that dim with the dimmer.
For 1 & 2, if you don't have these features in your car, just insulate the
ends and get them out of the way. For 3, check that it works first. On
some cars, like a Mazda, the dimmer works in the opposite way and you can't
use this. Again, insulate the end and tie out of the way.
