There's always ceiling mounting too : ) Mirage makes an affordable set
of speakers called the AVS-SAT. Each speaker is about 50.00 (+10.00 for
mounting brackets). The AVS-SAT was recently discontinued so you might
be able to get them on clearence.

How about Athena Auditions? They cost about 95.00 each. Very nice
speakers and highly regarded book shelf speakers.
