Led Zeppelin: HTWWW
For the How The West Was Won CD collection, ive been listening to it alot on
headphones lately, to school and stuff. With the phones you really can hear
the stereo imagine working and Iwas wondering a few things. Especially in
tracks like Heartbreaker and Immigrant song, there is definetly a lot of
stereo phasing and the like going on. How many mics were used in the
original recording and what did they use to maximize the stereo field in
mastering? I know they used the Peavey Kosmos to a huge extent but thats
mostly bass and thoes lower harmonics. But if you listen to the Immigrant
song solo for example, the guitar sounds spaced. Almost as if there was a
mic near the stage and another one a few hundred feet back, but they're
panned apart and the imagine is excellent.
