If you can manage a look at the Audio Engineering Associates R84
(roughly $1000 USD) ribbon, you might find the kind of top end
that is missing from other ribbon microphones. These mics are
lighter than the Coles, or even the old RCAs although they are
fairly large, but the transient response is most impressive on
metallic instruments.
