There is something called a Roland MC50 which is popular. I don't think
it's
made anymore, but there are used ones around. They allow you to play
sequences
and they are pretty robust. They take a floppy disk for storage and are
small and decently durable. Be sure to get a manual. I just did a search
and
there are two on ebay right now. They are 'sequencers' in a box..
