Thanks Scott for the good advice. I phoned them(pacific pro audio) today and they will repair it for free, even though I bought it over a year ago.

If you have a second, can you describe "a side effect of a very low frequency rumble"? from the mic? the stand? the source?

I bet the pops are just a side effect of a very low frequency rumble, too.
Get them to replace it with a new one of the same model that works.
