I'm shopping for a small-format digital mixer for my project studio.
It's one room---I record in the room with the mixer. The computer
is by the door to my shop, so it gets put "outside" during a session,
but not the mixer/transport, obviously. I've had a Roland mixer,
and though it is impressive in some respects, the fan is loud enough
that it can't be in the same room as the mics for acoustic guitar
recording.
One model that's attractive to me is the Tascam DM-24, in part because
it has *no* fan. But it's physically larger than I'd like, and has
more channels than I really need (12 or even 8 would suffice), so I'm
also looking at the Yamaha 01V96. Does it have a fan? If so, how
quiet is it?
Any other suggestions for this application?
Hi Tom
I don't have the O1V96 but here's the manual, no mention of a fan. It
does mention ventilation holes:

You've probably checked these, but here's some other options w/o fans:

I've been using the powered version (DP1000, which does have a fan) for
live sound, it's excellent and very easy to use.

What about the O1V? Looks less expensive than O1V96...
I'm using the Yamaha AW16G as standalone digital mixer/recorder, not as
powerful as computer-based, but very nice for straightforward recording.
